Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Peter Lee
Centre Peter Lee was a dangerous offensive player who spent six years with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was one of the leading scorers in the history of the OHA and was a top attraction in the German Bundesliga in the latter part of his career.

Born in Ellesmere, England, Lee was a junior star with the OHA's Ottawa 67's. After setting a new league record with 81 goals in 1975-76, he was selected 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens. During his first pro season Lee scored 33 goals for the Nova Scotia Voyageurs but was up against a log jam of talent if he hoped to make the NHL. He started the next year in the minors until he was included in the deal that brought Pittsburgh star Pierre Larouche to the Habs.

Lee was a fine offensive addition to the Pens and was a key playmaker with the extra man. He reached the 30-goal mark twice and scored a personal best 64 points in 1980-81 playing with Greg Malone and Rod Schutt. Unfortunately, the Penguins were in decline and Lee only played 19 playoff games during his five and a half years with the organization.

Following the 1982-83 season, Lee left North America to play for Dusseldorfer EG of Germany. He scored at least 20 goals in each of his eight years with the club before retiring in 1991.
