Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jackie Leclair
Centre Jackie Leclair spent three years with the Montreal Canadiens in the 50s. He was a reliable goal scorer and passer who enjoyed most of his success in minors and senior leagues.

Born in Quebec City, Leclair played junior with the Ottawa St. Pats, Lethbridge Native Sons and Quebec Citadelles. After a few years with the senior Ottawa Senators, Leclair scored 31 points for the AHL's Pittsburgh Hornets in 1953-54. Prior to the 1954-55 season the Montreal Canadiens acquired him.

Leclair scored 11 goals as a rookie while playing on a line with Floyd Curry and Dickie Moore. He also contributed five goals when the Habs reached the finals and lost to the Detroit Red Wings. The next year he scored six goals, played solid defensive hockey and was a member of the Canadiens' Stanley Cup championships. After playing 47 games for Montreal in 1956-57, Leclair was sent down to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.

During the last few years of his career the veteran pivot spent time in the QHL, AHL and EHL before retiring in 1968. In 1962-63 he recorded 98 points for the EHL's Charlotte Checkers and in 1966 he was voted on to the league's second all-star team.
