Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Mike Laughton
Center Mike Laughton spent parts of four seasons with the Oakland/California Seals in the 60s and 70s. He was a solid offensive player whose production was decent in the NHL and WHA.

The native of Nelson, BC played senior hockey with the local Maple Leafs of the WIHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect then spent his first pro season with the WHL's Victoria Maple Leafs in 1966-67. Unable to crack the Leafs line up, the young pivot was selected by Oakland in the Expansion Draft.

Laughton split the 1967-68 season between the Seals and the WHL's Vancouver Canucks. The next year he helped the club finish second in the Western Division and scored 20 goals while playing on a line with Bill Hicke and Gary Jarrett. Laughton scored 16 goals in 1969-70 but his defensive play slipped along with the rest of the Seals. Injuries reduced his playing time to 25 games the next season then he spent the entire 1971-72 schedule with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs of the AHL.

In 1972-73, Laughton spent his first of three years in the WHA when he scored 23 goals for the New York Raiders. Injuries forced him to sit out the 1975-76 season but he returned and played two years in the WIHL with Nelson before retiring in 1978.
