Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Doug Kostynski
Centre Doug Kostynski was a fine scorer in junior, the minors, and in Europe. He was called up by the Boston Bruins when they were ravaged by injuries in the early 1980s and acquitted himself well.

The native of Castlegar, B.C. was a superior playmaker in the WHL with the New Westminster Bruins and Kamloops Oilers. Following an 81-point season in 1981-82 he was claimed 186th overall by Boston in the NHL Entry Draft. The next year he exploded for 57 goals and 116 points for Kamloops.

Kostynski adjusted well to the AHL in 1983-84 and scored three goals in nine games for the Bruins who were desperately short of forwards. He played six games in Boston the next year but most of his time ended up being spent with the AHL's Hershey Bears, Moncton Golden Flames, and Adirondack Red Wings. Kostnyski left North America in 1989 to suit up for the Saipa club in the Finnish Elite League. He totalled 84 points in two seasons before leaving the game in 1990.
