Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Bobby Kirk
Right-winger Bobby Kirk was a fine goal scorer who played most of the 1937-38 season with the New York Rangers. He was an accomplished player in junior and senior hockey as well as the minors.

Born in Dough Grange, Ireland, Kirk immigrated to Canada in his youth. He played with the Elmwood Millionaires/Winnipeg Elmwoods for two years while also suiting up for the senior Elmwoods and CNR teams. He later played in the AHA, WCHL, NWHL, and Can-Am leagues. In 1934-35 he scored 25 goals in 32 games for the Vancouver Lions to lead the NWHL. The next year he played for the Philadelphia Arrows of the Can-Am League and was a first-team all-star after leading the league in assists and points.

Having been claimed by the New York Rangers from the Vancouver Lions in the 1935 Inter-League Draft, Kirk joined the Philadelphia Ramblers in 1936-37 when the parent club decided to see if he was big league material. He registered 22 points in 34 games and was given a chance to play in the NHL the following season. Kirk scored 12 points in 39 games but never played another NHL game after this season. Between 1938 and 1942 he was a solid worker for Philadelphia and Hershey in the AHL then played the 1942-43 season with the Vancouver RCAF before retiring.
