Rene Joliat was a right winger and defenceman who played one game with the Montreal Canadiens in 1924-25. He was chiefly known in Ottawa as a fine player in the local senior leagues
Born in Ottawa, Joliat played in the city's senior league with the Grand Trunks and New Edinburghs. After sitting out the 1920-21 season, Joliat headed to northern Ontario to play for the Iroquiois Falls Flyers. He returned to the New Edinburghs the next season before playing with the Hull Volants in the Quebec senior league.
Joliat was signed as a free agent by the Canadiens in November, 1924. After his one game stint with the Montreal, he played with the Boston Maples of the USHA and the Ottawa Shamrocks senior club before retiring in 1930.
