Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Greg Holst
Centre Greg Holst played a few games for the New York Rangers in the 70s. He was a top scorer in junior and ended up enjoying a productive career in the Austrian league.

Born in Montreal, Holst spent two years at the University of New Brunswick then scored 33 goals for the OHA's Kingston Canadians in 1973-74. That summer the Rangers at the Amateur Draft picked him 139th overall. Holst spent most of his first pro season in the Southern League with the Winston-Salem Polar Bears. He then spent three years as a top scorer in the AHL and was presented the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the league's top rookie in 1976 after scoring 37 goals for the Providence Reds. During this time, the young pivot was summoned to New York three times as an injury replacement.

Prior to the 1978-79 season, Holst decided to try his luck in the Austrian League with EV Innsbruck. He went on to play with three other teams in the league before retiring in 1993.
