Defenceman Alan Hepple played a handful of games with the New Jersey Devils in the 80s. He was a rugged competitor who used his stocky 5'9", 200lb to play the body well in the minors while also contributing on offense.
Born in Blaydon-on-Tyne, England, Hepple was taken 169th overall by Devils in 1982 while he was in the midst of a fine junior career with the OHL's Ottawa 67's. Beginning in 1983-84 he made one appearance for the Devils in three straight seasons. During this period he saw most of his action with the AHL's Maine Mariners
In June, 1988, Hepple signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He became a regular on the AHL's Newmarket Saints but was never recalled by the parent club. Hepple spent parts of two seasons providing offense and grit with the San Diego Gulls and Cincinnati Cyclones of the IHL before retiring in 1993.
