Left-winger Bill Gooden played parts of two seasons with the New York Rangers in the early 40s. He was a dangerous sniper who hit the 20-goal mark seven times in the AHL.

The Winnipeg native starred in the MJHL with the hometown Maroons and the Portage Terriers before playing 12 games with New York in 1942-43. The next season he was a solid performer with nine goals while playing on a line with...

Beginning in 1944-45, Gooden spent the next decade as one of the AHL's most consistent scorers. His best year was 1950-51 when he scored 32 goals for the Springfield Indians and was named to the league's second all-star team. During the mid-50s the veteran forward played in the WHL, AHL and EHL before retiring in 1957.

AHL Second All-Star Team (1951) Signed as a free agent by NY Rangers, October 30, 1942. Traded to New Haven (AHL) by Hershey (AHL) for Norm Larson, January 28, 1946. Loaned to Springfield (QHL) by Syracuse (AHL) for cash (February 11, 1954) but refused to report and was suspended by Springfield for remainder of 1953-54 season, February 13, 1954.
