Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jeannot Gilbert
Centre Jeannot Gilbert played a handful of games for the Boston Bruins in the early 60s. Although his NHL tenure was brief, he scored with regularity in junior, the minors and the WHA.

Born in Grande Baie, Quebec, Gilbert was a scoring star with the OHA's Barrie Flyers and Niagara Falls Flyers. Around the time he saw action in Boston, he was a dangerous sniper in the EHL with the Clinton Comets and the EPHL's Kingston Frontenacs. In 1962 he was named the rookie-of-the-year in the EHL and notched a personal high 50 goals with the CHL's Minneapolis Bruins two years later.

After toiling briefly with Boston in 1964-65, Gilbert was a top scorer for several years with the AHL's Hershey Bears. He scored at least 20 goals eight times and helped the Bears win the Calder Cup in 1969. That same year he was named to the league's first all-star team and won the John B. Sollenberger trophy as the top scorer in the AHL. Gilbert retired in 1975 after playing two years in the WHA with the Quebec Nordiques.
