Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Sandy Fitzpatrick
Centre Alexander "Sandy" Fitzpatrick played briefly with the New York Rangers and Minnesota North Stars in the 1960s. He was an explosive scorer in junior who played most of his hockey in the minors as solid two-way pivot.

Born in Paisely, Scotland, Fitzpatrick enjoyed two decent years with the OHA's Guelph Royals before embracing a more offensive role with the Kitchener Rangers. During his last year as an amateur in 1964-65, he scored 51 goals in 56 games and played an abrasive style of hockey. He was called up for four games with New York at the end of that season then joined the CHL's Minnesota Rangers in 1965-66.

Fitzpatrick continued to be useful worker in the CHL and was claimed by the expansion Minnesota North Stars in June, 1967. He scored nine points in 18 games for the Stars in their inaugural season then resumed his proficient career in the minors. Fitzpatrick played two years in the CHL with the Memphis South Stars then played three years with the WHL's San Diego Gulls before retiring in 1972.
