Right-winger Joe Fisher was a useful two-way player for the Detroit Red Wings in the early 1940s. He was a disciplined checker who was adept at winning face-offs and could stir up offense on occasion.

The native of Medicine Hat, Alberta played a year of junior with the Edmonton Athletic Club in 1934-35. He then joined the Coleman Canadians of the Alberta Senior league for two years before leading the NOHA in assists with the Kirkland Lake Blue Devils in 1937-38. Fisher turned pro with the AHL's Pittsburgh Hornets in 1938-39 and scored 31 points in 48 games.

Fisher was a useful role player on the Red Wings in 1939-40 and 1940-41. He formed an effective line with...He played a few games in Motown over the next two seasons but his main task was scoring goals for the AHL"s Indianapolis Capitals.

Fisher served in World War II the played a year with the Winnipeg RCAF in 1944-45. He then spent five years in the Western Canada senior league with four different teams, He retired in 1950 after returning home to play a season for the Medicine Hat Tigers.
