Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Rene Drolet
Right-winger Rene Drolet played one game each for the Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings in the early 70s. Although his NHL career was brief, he was a top scorer in the minors for several seasons.

The Quebec City native enjoyed a fine amateur career with the Montreal Junior Canadiens. Since the parent club was stocked with capable players, the young forward played his first six years in the minors. During this period he was named to the IHL second all-star team in 1966 after scoring 42 goals for the Muskegon Zephyrs and topped the 30-goal mark twice for the Quebec Aces of the AHL.

Drolet became the property of the Flyers when they purchased the Aces prior to their inaugural season in 1967-68. He only played one game for Philly that year but was a key scorer on the AHL's Richmond Robins with 91 goals in three seasons. In June, 1974 he was picked by Detroit in the Reverse Draft and played his second NHL game that season. Drolet spent the next four years with the Virginia Wings and Rochester Americans of the AHL and was a perennial 20-goal scorer before retiring in 1978.
