Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jean-Paul Denis
Right-winger Jean-Paul Denis played a few games for the New York Rangers in the 40s and 50s. He was a decent goal scorer who could win battles for the puck along the boards. Most of his career was spent in the minors, particularly the AHL and QHL.

The Montreal native played junior with the local Concordias and was a scoring star with the city's Army detatchment in 1944-45. He didn't look out of place during a six game trial with the Blueshirts in 1946-47 but spent most of his time in the minors. During this period his best season was 1948-49 when he notched 24 goals for the New Haven Ramblers of the AHL.

In 1949-50 Denis returned for four games in New York before resuming his minor league sojourn. Before retiring in 1962 he scored at least 20 goals nine times In 1957-58 he totaled 89 points for the Shawinigan Cataracts and was the top scorer in the Quebec League and named to its first all-star team. Denis was a top scorer for the IHL's St. Paul Saints in the early 60s and went out on a high note with 32 goals in his last pro season.
