Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Glen Currie
Glen Currie had an eight-year NHL career, six with the Washington Capitals and two with the Los Angeles Kings. He was chosen in the 3rd round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft, 38th overall, by the Washington Capitals following three years of major junior hockey with the Laval National of the QMJHL. Currie put together an amazing final year in junior, scoring 63 goals and 82 assists for 145 points in 72 games.

Currie turned pro the following year, but he was not selected to the Capitals' main roster so he was sent to the Port Huron Flags of the IHL for further development. In 69 games, he had 27 goals and 63 points. In 1979-80, he shifted to the AHL's Hershey Bears, and midway through the year was called up to the Capitals where he would play 32 games, scoring two goals despite limited ice time.

Currie went through another two years of playing about half the season with the Capitals and half in the minors before having the chance at a full NHL season in 1982-83, when he dressed for 68 games and scored 39 points. The following season, he played in all 80 Washington games, scoring 36 points, which was deemed a disappointment. He played 44 games in 1984-85, but managed just a goal and six points.

With his career in Washington at an end, Currie found himself in Los Angeles, looking to crack the Kings' lineup in 1985-86. He played in 12 games and seven more in 1987-88 before retiring from professional hockey.
