Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Cam Connor
Cam Connor was chosen fifth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. He played a handful of games with the Winnipeg Jets of the WCHL before joining the Flin Flon Bombers in 1973-74, where he played in 65 games, scoring 47 goals and 91 points with 376 minutes in penalties.

At the end of his last junior season, Connor opted to play in the WHA for the Phoenix Roadrunners, who had selected him in the 3rd round, 31st overall in the WHA Amateur Draft. In 57 games, Connor had nine goals and 28 points with 168 minutes in penalties. He followed that with a 39-point effort in 1975-76, while spending 295 minutes in the box. In 1976-77, he joined the Houston Aeros, where he had the best year of his professional career, scoring 35 goals and 67 points in 76 games. Connor played one more season in Houston before heading to the NHL.

Connor finally played with the Canadiens for 23 games in 1978-79, but after scoring just four points, he was told he was not in the team's future plans. The following year he joined the Edmonton Oilers for 38 games before being traded to the New York Rangers. Connor remained with the organization until 1982-83. He played his final year of professional hockey in 1983-84 with the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL. Connor did not meet the expectations of the Canadiens, who had drafted him so highly in 1974. In 89 NHL games, he had just nine goals and 31 points.
