Toronto, Ontario native Dan Clark was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers but the defenseman re-entered the draft and was selected again, this time by the New York Rangers. The defenseman, born on November 3rd, 1957, made his NHL debut during the 1978-79 season playing in four games for the Blueshirts. Clark managed one assist in his four games and was a plus-one.
The rest of that season and all of the next two was spent with the New Haven Nighthawks of the American Hockey League.
In 1981-82 Clark played his final season of professional hockey, splitting his year between the Hershey Bears and the Springfield Indians.
