Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Don Cairns
Although Cairns was drafted a very respectable 20th overall in 1975, the selection was made by the Kansas City Scouts, an organization not known for its scouting. Cairns played all of seven games with the team as a green 20-year-old in 1975-76, spending much of the season in the minors. When the franchise relocated to Colorado, he stayed with the team but appeared in just two games the next year, earning his one and only NHL point (an assist). Two years later, after stints in the minors again, Cairns retired from hockey altogether.
