Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Oscar Asmundson
Asmundson played in 1931-32 for the Bronx Tigers, and the next year he leaped into the NHL with the downtown Rangers and won a Stanley Cup with a team that lost just once in eight games.

The following year, though, his production dipped and the team was out in the first round of the playoffs, and as a result the Blueshirts sold him to Detroit before the start of the next season. He made little impression on coach Jack Adams, who sent him to the minors after just three games, and later in the season he was released altogether.

Asmundson caught on with the first-year (and last-year) St. Louis Eagles, but spent the next year back in the Can-Am league. He made two more very brief NHL appearances, one with the New York Americans, the other with the Canadiens, and spent the next eight years in the minors, finishing up with the Hollywood Wolves on a team that became famous a year later for boasting of Bill Barilko soon to be promoted to the Leafs, on the blueline. Asmundson retired in 1945.
