The North Stars took a flyer on Archibald when they selected him 139th overall in 1981, and they got pretty much what they paid for. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, he made the WCHA First All-Star team in his last year (1984-85), and at the end of the season played a handful of games with the big club and a few more with the farm team in Springfield.
In all, though, Archibald played just 16 games in three years with the North Stars, spending most of 1984-87 in the AHL and going to the IHL for all of 1987-88 and then retiring.
