Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dan Vincelette
Dan Vincelette was selected 74th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1985 Entry Draft. He was drafted from the Drummondville Voltiguers of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Vincelette played two more seasons with Drummondville. He was named to the QMJHL All-Star team in 1985-86. Over the course of his junior career he averaged a point a game and collected 646 penalty minutes.

He joined the Blackhawks in time for the 1987 playoffs, his first game coming on April 9, 1987. He played three games before the team was eliminated.

Vincelette made the Blackhawks full-time at the 1987 training camp. His first goal came in a game against the Minnesota North Stars on November 8, 1987. In 69 games he put up 17 points and 107 penalty minutes, but he had a hard time staying with the big club for the 1988-89 season. This time he showed a better touch around the net even though his points total dropped. Vincelette scored eleven goals over the campaign, up from the four he had tallied previously.

He played his last two games with the Blackhawks in the 1989-90 season. The Hawks sent him to the minors until they traded him to the Quebec Nordiques on March 5, 1990. The Nordiques kept him on the roster until the end of their season, whereupon they assigned him to their AHL Halifax Citadels for the playoffs.

Vincelette lasted exactly one year in the Quebec system before being sent back to the Chicago Blackhawks. He finished the season with the IHL Indianapolis Ice and played seven games in the playoffs. He split the 1991-92 season between Indianapolis and the Blackhawks.

He did not see any further NHL action but his rights were traded twice. On June 18, 1992, Tampa Bay selected him in the Expansion Draft. In December, Tampa moved him to Philadelphia for Steve Kasper. Vincelette did not suit up for either team, although he continued to play up to the 1996-97 season on minor league teams and in the British league.
