Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Garry Valk
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Garry Valk spent three years with the WCHA's North Dakota Fighting Sioux before making his professional debut in 1990-91. The sixth round, 108th overall selection of the Vancouver Canucks in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft, Valk played in 59 games during the 1990-91 season while spending some time with the IHL's Milwaukee Admirals.

A rugged-winger, Valk spent three seasons in the Canuck organization before being claimed by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 1993 NHL Expansion Draft. The Mighty Ducks selected Valk and he responded by finishing third in team scoring with a career high 45 points. In 1997 the Ducks traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins. With Valk in the lineup the Penguins finished first in the Northeast Division, however, at the end of his contract Pittsburgh opted not resign the Edmonton, AB native.

In the summer of 1998 Valk signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs and went on to play four seasons with the club before signing with the Chicago
Blackhawks for the 2002-03 season. Despit some new surroundings, Valk split the season between the Windy City and the AHL's Norfolk Admirals before calling it a career at seasons end.
