Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Darren Turcotte
Centre Darren Turcotte was a pure goal scorer with a quick shot during the 1980s and '90s. He recorded four 20-goal seasons and was a boost to the power play on each of the five clubs on which he played.

The Boston native was a junior star in the OHL with the North Bay Centennials. He was taken 114th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft and represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships in 1987 and 1988. In 1988-89 he saw action in 20 games for the Blueshirts but spent most of his time with the Denver Rangers of the IHL.

Turcotte recorded four straight 20-goal seasons in New York and played for Team USA at the 1993 World Championships. In 1991-92, he scored 30 goals while helping the club finish at the top of the regular season standings. Early in the 1993-94 season, the slick forward was traded to the Hartford Whalers in the deal that brought Steve Larmer to Manhattan. Turcotte lasted a little over a year in Hartford then played briefly in Winnipeg and San Jose. The veteran forward was picked up by the expansion Nashville Predators prior to the 1998-99 season. Turcotte added an element of flash to the club but retired after only playing nine contests the next season.
