Center Patrice Tardif played briefly for the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings in the mid-90s. He was a fine playmaker who put up impressive numbers as an amateur and in the minors while taking on a checking role in the NHL.

Born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Tardif was taken 54th overall by the Blues in 1990 after a 58-goal season with Champlain Junior College. He then spent four years at the University of Maine where he accumulated 72 goals. Tardif began his pro career with the IHL's Peoria Rivermen late in the 1993-94 season then scored 27 goals for them the next year in only 53 games.

Tardif spent the last half of the 1994-95 season the first part of the next as a checker for St. Louis. He was eventually sent down to the AHL then traded to the LA Kings. He played 15 games in Lotusland then spent five years in the minors before playing one last season with Germany's Kassel Huskies in 2000-01.

Traded to Los Angeles by St. Louis with Craig Johnson, Roman Vopat, St. Louis' 5th round pick (Peter Hogan) in 1996 NHL Draft and 1st round pick (Matt Zultek) in 1997 NHL Draft for Wayne Gretzky, February 27, 1996.
