Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Scott Barney
Scott Barney was born March 27, 1979 in Oshawa, Ontario. The second round, 29th overall selection of the Los Angeles Kings in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Barney is a graduate of the OHL's Peterborough Petes.

An offensively gifted player, Barney played four seasons with the Peterborough Petes while getting a taste of the professional game during the 1998-99 season when he played a handful of games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons.

A two-time 40+ goal scorer in Peterborough, Barney was sidelined from 1999 up until 2002 after he suffered a back injury at the Kings training camp in 1999. Upon being released by the Kings, the team resigned the Oshawa native in the summer of 2002 to a tryout contract and would eventually sign him to a one year deal.

Barney went on to spend the better part of the 2002-03 season with the team's AHL affiliate in Manchester while suiting up for five games with the parent club. In 2003-04, Barney continued to hone his skills in the AHL and saw his offensive numbers return, notching 34 points (20-14-34) in 44 games while suiting up for 19 games with the Kings and registering 11 points (5-6-11).

Following an NHL lock out in 2004-05, Barney was acquired by the Atlanta Thrashers in the summer of 2005.
