Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Marian Cisar
When the Nashville Predators joined the National Hockey League in 1998 they stocked their system with an Expansion draft, some free agent signings and a few crafty trades with the other member clubs. The Los Angeles Kings, who had two quality netminders in Stephane Fiset and Jamie Storr needed to offer some incentive to the Predators not to select one of their keepers and that incentive came in the form of Marian Cisar. Cisar, who was the Kings second round draft pick in the 1996 Entry Draft was shipped to the Predators for future considerations just prior to the Expansion draft and became the first player in club history.

Cisar, who was born in the former Czechoslovakia but played two years of Junior in Canada turned professional with the Predators farm club in Milwaukee. During his first two years in the organization he played just three games with Nashville, but his third season Cisar became an NHL regular.

The speedy Cisar played 60 games in Nashville and the right-winger potted 12 goals and 27 points.

His 2001-02 season was essentially a write-off after a recurring hip flexor injury limited him to just 12 games, 10 of them coming with the Predators. Despite his injury woes the Predators remain high on the skilled forward and feel that his ability to play both wings will make him easy to slot into one of the top two lines.
