After being selected by the Bruins in the 1990 Entry Draft, Cam Stewart played hockey at the University of Michigan until 1993. He made his NHL debut in the 1993-94 season and saw his first action in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Stewart split his time over the next three seasons with Boston and the team's AHL and IHL affiliates and was a member of the Houston Aeros Turner Cup championship team in 1999. He then signed as a free agent with the Florida Panthers in 1999 and played his first full season in the NHL. Stewart was later selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 2000 Expansion Draft.

He is known as a checking forward who inspires his teammates every time he steps on the ice by his passion for the game.
