Paul Stanton was selected out of high school by the Penguins in the 1985 Entry Draft and played at the University of Wisconsin for four seasons. He was named to the WCHA's second all-star team in 1988 and first team in 1989 as well as being an NCAA West first all-American in '88.
The 1990-91 season saw Stanton make his NHL debut. He won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in his first to years in the league. After one more season in Pittsburgh, Stanton was traded to the Bruins where he played for the 1993-94 season. Stanton was on the move again the next year when he was dealt to the Islanders for a brief stint in the 1994-95 season.
The next season saw Stanton leave North America to play in Germany for the Mannheim Eagles from 1995 to 2000. He then played for the Nurnberg Ice Tigers for the 2000-01 season and currently plays there.
