Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jan Bulis
Born in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia, Jan Bulis starred on his local junior club before heading to Canada to pursue his dream of playing in the NHL. In 1994-95, he averaged nearly a point per game for the Kelowna Spartans of the BCJHL. The next year he moved up to the OHL and scored 29 goals for the Barrie Colts. Bulis who was chosen 43rd overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, was returned him to junior club for one last year in 1996-97. He responded with 42 goals and a consistent performance for most of the year.

The talented forward showed glimpses of his skill during 48 games as a rookie in 1997-98. He improved his overall game over the next two years but Washington had an abundance of skilled forwards. Prior to the trade deadline in March 2001, Bulis was part of the package sent to the Montreal Canadiens for veteran Trevor Linden.

Upon joining Montreal in 2001 Bulis' confidence grew and he quickly established himself as one of the young talents in the league. In 2003-04, Bulis played his 400th NHL game.

Following his stint with the Canadiens, Bulis signed with the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent in the summer of 2006.
