Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jesse Boulerice
Jesse Boulerice was born August 10, 1978 in Plattsburgh, New York. The 5th choice, 133rd overall selection of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Boulerice is a graduate of the Ontario Hockey League's Detroit/Plymouth Whalers.

The former Hawkesbury Hawk played three seasons in the OHL accumulating over 500 minutes in penalties while playing a hard-nosed aggressive game. In his final year with Plymouth, Boulerice reached career highs in goals (20), assists (23) and points (43).

A two-time member of the United States World Junior Team, Boulerice won a silver medal in 1997 and was also member of the 1998 team. Boulerice's 1997-98 season was cut short after he was involved in a stick swinging incident with Andrew Long of the Guelph Storm which resulted in a lengthy suspension for the Plattsburgh, NY native.

Boulerice split his first season of professional hockey in 1998-99 between the Flyers AHL affiliate Philadelphia Phantoms and the ECHL's New Orleans Brass. In 1999-2000 Boulerice split his season with the Phantoms and the ECHL's Trenton Titans before finding a permanent home with the Phantoms the following year.

In his first full season with the Phantoms, Boulerice finished second on the team with 256 penalty minutes before making his NHL debut with the Flyers during the 2001-02 season. Even though he spent the majority of the season with the Phantoms, Boulerice played in a handful of games with the Flyers before being dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes midway through the season.

After being dealt to the Hurricanes, Boulerice joined the team's AHL affiliate in Lowell and went on to finish the season in the AHL. Boulerice found a permanent home in the NHL in 2002-03 with the Carolina Hurricanes and was a mainstay with the club up until the 2005-06 season. With the Canes' sitting first overall in the NHL at the end of January, the club, looking to add depth down the middle acquired highly skilled forward Doug Weight from the St. Louis Blues in a package deal that sent Boulerice to the Blues.

Boulerice finished the 2005-06 season with the St. Louis Blues competing in 12 games. Following his stint with the Blues, Boulerice was signed as a free agent by the Carolina Hurricanes on August 2nd, 2006.
