Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Petri Skriko
Growing up in Finland, Petri Skriko played junior hockey there and represented his country in the World Junior Championships, winning a silver medal in 1981 and a bronze medal the next year. The Vancouver Canucks in the 1981 Entry Draft selected him.

Before making the jump to the NHL, Skriko played in Finland until the 1983-84 season and played for Finland at the 1984 Olympic Winter Games. He played his rookie season in the NHL in 1984-85 and returned at season's end to play for Finland in the IIHF World Championships. Skriko's second season in the NHL was his finest when it came to point production as he recorded career highs in each category.

He played in Vancouver until being traded to the Boston Bruins during the 1990-91 season when the Bruins made a run for the Stanley Cup only to fall short in the Conference finals to the eventual Cup winners, the Pittsburgh Penguins. Skriko was on the move once again the next season when he was sent to the Winnipeg Jets. The next season saw Skriko sign as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks for his last year in the NHL before playing once again for Finland and retiring from the game in 1993.
