Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Gary Shuchuk
Gary Shuchuk played at the University of Wisconsin for four seasons while being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1988 supplemental draft. In his last season of University hockey Shuchuk led the league in goals and points and was named to the WCHA's first all-star team and the NCAA's first all-American team for 1990.

The 1990-91 season would see him make the jump to the NHL playing in nine games for the Wings including his first action in the Stanley Cup playoffs. He would spend the majority of the season with the team's AHL affiliate Adirondack Red Wings, where he spent the entire next season and most of the 1992-93 season. Shuchuk was then traded to the Los Angeles Kings where he would play 25 games of the regular season and 17 games of the playoffs as the Kings went all the way to the Cup finals, led by Wayne Gretzky. The Kings would fall to the Montreal Canadiens in five games.

Shuchuk would spend three more seasons with the Kings, splitting time in the IHL with the Phoenix Roadrunners and Houston Aeros before moving to Switzerland to play the 1997-98 season. After a season away from the game Shuchuk came back to the IHL to play for the Orlando Solar Bears. He would head back to Europe in 2000 for the next two seasons in the German Elite League.
