Defenceman Claudio Scremin played a few games for the San Jose Sharks in the early 90s. He was a decent playmaker who could take the body in a career spent mostly in the minors and Europe.
Born in Burnaby, BC, Scremin starred for the BC Wrigley Midgets then the Richmond Sockeyes of the provincial junior league. The young rearguard then spent four years at the University of Maine and was drafted 204th overall by the Washington Capitals in 1988. Before he had a chance to wear a Caps uniform, Scremin was traded to the Minnesota North Stars but was used strictly as a minor leaguer.
On the eve of their inaugural training camp, the Sharks signed Scremin as a free agent and used him sporadically for a couple of seasons. In 1993-94 he spent some time with Varese in the Italian league before returning to play several years with the IHL's Kansas City Blades.
