Right-winger Joel Savage played three games with the Buffalo Sabres in 1990-91. He was a proficient scorer in junior who ended up having a decent pro career in the minors and Europe.
Born in Surrey, BC, Savage starred in the BCJHL with the Kelowna Packers. He then moved up to the WHL's Victoria Cougars and was taken 13th overall by Buffalo after scoring 37 goals in 1987-88 and being named a league all-star. He returned to junior but had a disappointing 17-goal season then spent most of his first six pro seasons in the AHL and IHL.
After spending the 1994-95 season with the Canadian national team, Savage signed with the German club Star Bulls Rosenheim. He registered 54 points in 50 games in 1995-96 and later played for Frankfurt and HC Lugano of Switzerland.
