Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jim Sandlak
A first-round draft pick, 4th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in 1985, Jim Sandlak played his junior years first with his hometown Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League until moving to the London Knights.

He topped off his junior career at the World Junior Championships, guiding team Canada, on home ice, to a silver medal after falling to the Soviet Union in the finals. Sandlak was named the tournament's best forward with 12 points on a Canadian team that set a record for goals with 54.

In his first full season with the Canucks, he was named to the National Hockey League's all-rookie team in 1997. Sandlak enjoyed his time in Vancouver as a hard-working forward until 1993 when he was traded to the Hartford Whalers. After two disappointing seasons with the Whalers, he traveled back out West to the Canucks for one last season before retiring.
