Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Vladimir Tsyplakov
Since entering the NHL in 1995-96, left-winger Valdimir Tsyplakov has been a fine playmaker and penalty killer on two different clubs. He began the 2001-02 season hoping to bounce back from a serious knee injury that limited his effectiveness the previous year.

Born in Inta, USSR, Tsyplakov was a scoring star on Dynamo Minsk. He was taken 59th overall by the L.A. Kings in 1995 after three excellent seasons of minor pro in North America. In 1992-93, he scored 33 goals for the Detroit Falcons and was placed on the Colonial League's first all-star team.

Beginning in 1995-96, the talented youngster was a fine playmaker for four years in L.A. In 1997-98, he set a career high with 52 points. In January 2000, he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres where he played in a number of situations. His 2000-01 season was interrupted by a serious knee injury suffered at the start of the schedule.

On the international stage, Tsyplakov represented the Soviet Union at the World Junior Championship (1989), Belarus at the Winter Olympics (1998 and 2002) and Belarus at three World Championships (1999, 2000 and 2005).
