Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jason Morgan
Although he was born in Newfoundland Jason Morgan moved to Ontario and played minor hockey in Kitchener. At 16 he scored 84 points in 69 games with the midget AAA team. The following year he made the successful jump to major junior playing with the Kitchener Rangers. Midway through his second season he was traded to the Kingston Frontenacs. After the 1994-95 season Morgan had established himself as a strong two-way player. He was selected 118th overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings.

Morgan returned for his final year of junior eligibility with the Frontenacs in 1975-76 but he and the club must have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of offensive production. In 66 games he was only able to muster 16 goals although he did have 54 points. A decent offensive year, but certainly nothing that was going to make the L.A. Kings take extra notice.

In 1996-97 while playing with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the IHL he was called up to Los Angeles for three games as an injury replacement but saw limited ice time and was not able to carve a niche for himself in such a short tryout. In 1997-98 he suited up for another eleven games with the Kings and scored the one and only goal of his NHL career.

Since then Morgan continued to toil in the minors, playing with an assortment of teams in the AHL before making a return to the NHL in 2003-04 with the Calgary Flames. After spending parts of three years with the Saint John Flames, Morgan spent the early part of the 2003-04 season with the parent club in Calgary before being claimed off of waivers by the Nashville Predators.

Upon his arrival with the Preds', Morgan saw limited action with the team, and subsequently was re-acquired by the Flames in the second half of the 2003-04 season and five short days later was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks.

As a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, Morgan would spend the majority of his time with the club's AHL affiliate in Norfolk. The following off-season he was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota Wild. As a member of the Wild he would again spend most of his time in the AHL with the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston.

Morgan found himself again on the move in the summer of 2007 when the St. John's, Newfoundland native signed as a free agent with the Washington Capitals.
