Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jeff Odgers
Since entering the NHL with the expansion San Jose Sharks in 1991-92, right-winger Jeff Odgers was always a thorn in the side to many opponents. A hard-nosed competitor with an ability to drive to the net for the occasional goal, Odgers went on to play 12 seasons in the NHL.

The native of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan played four years of junior with the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings, reaching the 30-goal mark in each of his last two seasons and was considered one of the league's toughest customers. Undrafted and unsigned, the young forward played the 1990-91 season with the IHL's Kansas City Blades.

Odgers signed as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks as they prepared for their inaugural season in 1991-92. He scored seven goals as a rookie a battled with most of the NHL's enforcers. Odgers was a regular in the Sharks' line up for the next four years and helped the team come within a game of the Western Conference semi-finals in 1994.

In June 1996, Odgers was traded to the Boston Bruins and saw plenty of ice time with his new club's grinding style. Prior to the 1997-98 season he was picked up by the Colorado Avalanche to add a physical dimension to their highly skilled team. In 1998-99 he was a solid player for the club as it reached the the Western Conference semi-finals. Odgers went on to play one more season in Colorado before joining the Atlanta Thrashers in the summer of 2000 for the next three seasons was a tireless worker for the young franchise.

In the summer of 2003, Jeff Odgers announced his retirement.
