Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jon Morris
Centre Jon Morris was a utility player for three different teams in the 1980s and '90s. His playmaking talents were often stymied by the tight checking of the NHL but he put up solid numbers in college, the minors, and Europe.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Morris was chosen 86th overall by the New Jersey Devils after starring for Chelmsford High School. He then spent four years at the University of Lowell and was placed on the Hockey East first all-star team in 1987. Injuries limited him to four games in 1988-89, but he returned the next season to excel with the AHL's Utica Devils and dressed for 29 games with New Jersey.

Morris registered 28 points and was a solid checker for New Jersey in 1990-91 but soon ran into injury trouble. He toiled in the minors and was a part-time player for the San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins before heading to Europe. In 1994-95, Morris starred for the Val Gardena club of Italy and represented the United States at the World Championships. He retired in 1996 after playing four games for the Rattingen Lions of Germany
