Center/right-winger Jay Mazur spent parts of four seasons with the Vancouver Canucks in the 80s and 90s. He was a talented goal scorer who enjoyed most of his success in college and the minors.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Mazur move to Minnesota in his youth. He was chosen 240th overall by Vancouver after a fine career at Breck High School. The young forward then spent four years at the University of Maine before turning pro in 1987. He enjoyed a solid rookie year with a combined 31 goals for the Flint Spirits of the IHL and the AHL's Fredericton Express.
Mazur was a reliable goal scorer for several years in the minors and was recalled occasionally by Vancouver. In all, he played 47 regular seaso games for the Canucks and was on hand in 1991 when the team lost a tough first round playoffs series to the Wayne Gretzky-led LA Kings. Mazur was a regular in several minor pro leagues and also spent part of a season in Italy with Milano 24 before retiring in 2001.
