Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jason Strudwick
Jason Strudwick, a big Albertan defenceman, is known as a stay-at-home type of back checker who can hit and block shots. He played his junior career with the Kamloops Blazers, where he helped the team win the Memorial Cup. He was selected by the New York Islanders in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 1995-96 season, playing only one game for New York and spending the season in the AHL with the Worcester IceCats.

After playing the entire 1996-97 season in the AHL with the Kentucky Thoroughblades, Strudwick split the next year with the Islanders and Kentucky until being traded to the Vancouver Canucks where he played eleven games. The 1998-99 season saw Strudwick play his first full year in the NHL with Vancouver and the bruising defenceman went on to play parts of five seasons with the Canucks before joining the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2002-03 season.

Strudwick stay in the Windy City lasted two seasons, before he was acquired by the New York Rangers in the summer of 2004. In his first season in New York, Strudwick appeared in 65 games, blocking shots and contributing offensively as much as he could. After signing with HC Lugano of the Swiss National League in September, 2006 and competing in 34 games, Strudwick returned to the Rangers and saw action in 8 games. He appeared in 52 games with the blueshirts in 2007-08 before signing a 1-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the off-season.
