Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Dave Scatchard
Born in Hinton, Alberta, Dave Scatchard was chosen 42nd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, after a solid rookie season with the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL. He was returned to junior and registered 97 points over his last two seasons before turning pro with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.

In 1997-98, the young centre scored 13 goals as a rookie with Vancouver and continued to be equally effective the next year. Early in the 1999-00 season Scatchard was traded to the New York Islanders in the deal built around goalie Felix Potvin. Scatchard fit in well with his new team and set at that time a personal best with 21 goals in 2000-01 before eclipsing that total in 2002-03 with 27.

A hard-nosed winger who doesn't shy away from the physical aspects of the game, Scatchard was one of the more reliable players on the Islanders roster. After parts of five seasons with the club, Scatchard was acquired by the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2005.

Following a brief stint with the Bruins, Scatchard was dealt to the Phoenix Coyotes in the early stages of the 2005-06 season.
