Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Terry Ryan
Left-winger Terry Ryan was a hard-nosed scorer in junior whose NHL potential was never fully realized. Most of his pro career has been spent in the minors where he provided grit and sporadic offense.

The native of St. John's, Newfoundland played Tier II junior with Quesnel of the Rockey Mountain Hockey League then joined the BCJHL's Vernon Lakers late in the 1992-93 season. The feisty forward then accumulated 98 goals in three years with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL and was chosen eighth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1995. In 1994-95 he notched 50 goals and was named to the WHL west second all-star team.

Ryan was returned to junior for the 1995-96 season and was a reliable scorer for Tri-City and the Red Deer Rebels. As a pro he was recalled to Montreal for a total of eight games spread out over three seasons but was chiefly a minor leaguer. By the late 90's he returned to the Rock to play for the St. John's Maple Leafs but was not called up by Toronto. Ryan then moved on to the West Coast League and the AHL where he continued to play an effective and gritty style.
