Jeff Daw was born February 28, 1972 in Carlisle, Ontario. Originally signed as a free agent by the Edmonton Oilers in 1996, Daw played four seasons with the Milton Merchants leading his team in scoring in 1991-92 and earning team MVP honours before opting to play collegiate hockey at UMass-Lowell.
The Carlisle, Ontario native played four seasons at UMass-Lowell earning Team Rookie of the Year honours his freshman year. A leader both on and off the ice, Daw who was the team's captain during his senior year is a tremendous penalty killer who shows great anticipation.
After establishing a career high for points with 51 during his senior year, Daw went on to split the 1996-97 season with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers and AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs before becoming a mainstay with the AHL team the following year.
Daw played two more seasons with the Bulldogs, leading them in scoring in 1997-98 before signing as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 1999. After signing with Chicago, Daw went on to split his 1999-2000 season with the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks, Houston Aeros and the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters.
Selected by Minnesota in the 2000 Expansion Draft, Daw spent the majority of the 2000-01 season with Lowell, serving as the team's captain before signing as a free agent with Colorado in the summer of 2001.
In his first season with the Avalanche organization, Daw went on to lead their AHL affiliate in Hershey in scoring while suiting up for one game with the parent club. Daw split the 2002-03 season between the Lowell Lock Monsters and the Springfield Falcons.
