Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Rob Gaudreau
Rob Gaudreau was an offensive-minded right-winger who spent four years in the NHL during the early 90s. In addition to his big league experience, he was standout in college and represented the United States on the international stage.

Born in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Gaudreau was selected 172nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins out of Bishop Hendricken High School. He then played four years at Providence College and represented the US at the 1990 World Junior Championships. Gaudreau accumulated 103 goals and was named to the Hockey East first and second all-star teams once each.

On May 30, 1991, Gaudreau was picked up by the newly founded San Jose Sharks in the NHL Dispersal Draft as he prepared for his senior year with the Friars. He scored 23 goals as a rookie with the dreadful Sharks in 1992-93. Following the season he scored six points in five games while playing for Team USA at the World Championships. Gaudreau was more of a role player on the improved Sharks when they reached the playoffs in 1994 and came within a victory of reaching the semifinals.

In January, 1995, Gaudreau was picked up on waivers by the Ottawa Senators. He spent two years as a checker on his new club before signing with the Swiss club La Chaux-de-Fonds. He retired in 1997 after scoring 42 points in 37 games for the club.
