Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Marc Fortier
Centre Marc Fortier played parts of six seasons in the NHL, mostly with the Quebec Nordiques. He was a prolific scorer in junior, the minors, and Europe but his role was more subdued in the NHL.

The native of Windsor, Quebec was an offensive force on the QMJHL's Chicoutimi Sagueneens for four seasons. He was signed by the Nordiques in February 1987 when he was in the midst of a remarkable year when produced 135 assists and 201 points. He split his first five seasons between the Nords and the American Hockey League. Fortier recorded a personal-best 20 goals in 57 games in 1988-89 on a very weak Quebec team.

Fortier was signed by the expansion Ottawa Senators in 1992 but only played ten games in the Nations' Capital. Two months into the season he was part of the package shipped to the L.A. Kings for Bob Kudelski, but he only played six games for his new club.

The slick centre scored 100 points for the Phoenix Roadrunners of the IHL in 1993-94 then spent three years with the Zurich Grasshoppers club in Switzerland. In 1995-96, Fortier led the Swiss Elite league with 38 assists in 36 games. Part way through the 1996-97 season he joined the Eisbaren Berlin team.
