Mike Colman, born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on August 4th, 1968 played for Ferris State University, then a year of pro hockey with the Kansas City Blades before inking a deal with the Blades NHL affiliate in 1991. Officially San Jose Sharks property for their maiden season, Colman, a strapping defenseman worked his way up to the NHL level that year.

In 15 games with the Sharks Colman posted one assist and compiled 32 penalty minutes. He spent the rest of season in Kansas City and all of the next campaign there as well.

In 1993-94 Colman posted the best numbers of his career, hitting career highs in all offensive categories with 4 goals, 7 assists and 11 points in 77 games.

Tragically, on April 5th, just as the season was drawing to a close, Colman was involved in an automobile accident and died as a result of his injuries.
