Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Lyndon Byers
Lyndon Byers was a hard-nosed right-winger during a career that spanned parts of ten seasons in the 1980s and '90s. He was a tireless grinder in the corners and constantly locked horns with the toughest foes on the opposition.

Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Byers spent a year with the Notre Dame Hounds before joining the Regina Pats for three years. He was picked 39th overall by the Boston Bruins in 1982 then returned to junior where he recorded consecutive 32-goal seasons. Byers' grit and competitive zeal also led to him being named to Team Canada at the 1984 World Junior Championships.

The young winger looked impressive in a ten-game stint with Boston late in the 1983-84 season. He split the next year between the NHL and minors and had trouble keeping a regular spot in the Bruins line up until 1987-88. That year he scored a career-high ten goals and helped the club reach the Stanley Cup finals. Byers remained a role player in Beantown until the end of the 1991-92 season. After signing as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks, he played 18 games in 1992-93 then remained in the minors until retiring in 1995.
