Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Jamie Baker
After three seasons of struggling to find a regular place in the Quebec Nordiques lineup, Jamie Baker returned to his hometown of Ottawa to play for the Senators in their first season as a revived franchise (1992-93). He was the team's second-leading scorer and set career highs, all while wearing usually unlucky number 13.

Baker honed his game with St. Lawrence University in the ECAC for four years, making the NCAA Final Four in his senior season. He was the eighth player taken overall, Quebec's second choice, in the 1988 Supplemental Draft. Baker was a strong two-way presence on the San Jose Sharks team that made the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 1993-94. He was second in the league to Mario Lemieux in shorthanded goals in 1995-96 with six, including two in one period against the Los Angeles Kings.

He returned to the minors in 1998 after one full season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. His lone NHL appearance in the 1998-99 season was with the Sharks against the Calgary Flames, a game played in Japan to open the NHL season. He later joined the HIFK in Finland for the latter half of the season before retiring.
