Viking Cup
Summary

Viking Cup Logo Organized in 1981 by the Camrose Lutheran College (later named the Augustana University College), this tournament has been known as the Viking Cup since 1982 after the name of the host team -- the Augustana University College Vikings. It is held every second year at Christmas time in Camrose, Alberta.

The Viking Cup pits national and club junior teams from Europe against junior and university teams from North America. Eight teams are divided into two groups. After a round-robin within each group, the top teams are given a bye through the first playoff round, while the second-place team from one group meets the third-place team from the other. Winners advance to meet the first place teams in the semifinals. The semifinal winners meet for the championship while the two losing teams compete for fourth place. There is also a playoff series for the two teams that finish fourth in the initial round robin section of the tournament.
